RECESS - January 16

Hi, Boys and Girls-Well, yesterday I told you we would make something really good for Brunch or Supper, so here is the recipe. MMMM this is so yummy!

What you need:

Lightly spread or spray with oil or margarine a 8x8 pan or glass baking dish. Preheat oven to 350.

1. 1 cup of flour 2. 1 cup of sugar 3. 1/2 teaspoon of salt 4. 1 teaspoon of baking powder 5. 1 egg 6. 5 or 6 medium sized apples sliced thin and peeled 7. 1/2 cup of margarine melted 8. cinnamon, and sugar to sprinkle (Maybe a bit of nutmeg too if you like it.)

What to do:

Combine (That means put together.) flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Sift it through your hands a little to mix everything together. (By the way, always remember to wash your hands before you start to cook.) Add the egg and mix together. Spread the apples out in layers on the bottom of your pan. Spread the batter over the apples. Gently dribble the melted margarine over the batter. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top. Cook for 35 minutes in a 350 oven. I really like to serve this with a big spoon full of CoolWhip on top.

When you make a nice dish like this for your family, it is fun to make your table look nice too. Why not put a basket of apples or some pretty flowers on the table and use some nice dishes or pretty colored napkins? Enjoy!! See you tomorrow-Mrs. L.
