RECESS - January 21
Hi Boys and Girls-Today is January 21 and My fourth grade reading group is at it again. Yes, they are writing Haiku. In case you don't remember, Haiku are the very specialized Japanese poems that have a total of seventeen syllables. Never any more, never any less. Fine in the first line, seven in the second line, and five in the third line. Haiku can be about anything, (These are about winter.) but the pattern must always be the same. It is fun to play with words and syllables to make your Haiku come out making sense and sounding right. Try these and see what you think, then try to write some of your own. Put your Haiku on the post or email it to me at jlresource@aol.com.
