RECESS - January 23

Hi, Boys and Girls-Today is  January 23. I have something very different for you today. Do you remember the book I recommended to you called The Quiltmaker's Gift? Well, I drew some lines in the kind of pattern a quiltmaker might use for a quilt and I thought you might like to color it with different patterns. I have started you out so you can have some ideas, but you should use your imagination for the rest. Perhaps you would like to ask some other members of your family if they would like to color some pieces. In the old days when people made quilts, whole families quilted or even groups of women from the same village or club would make a quilt. At my school we have a Colonial Day and the second graders all work to make a quilt. Their quilts are very beautiful. See if you can color a quilt and maybe you will take quilting up as a hobby some day! See you tomorrow!!
