RECESS - February 12

Hi, Boys and Girls-Today is February 12 and it is Abraham Lincoln’s real birthday. We have moved around Lincoln’s Birthday and Washington’s Birthday so that we would have days off for long week ends so I thing we have lost sight, a little bit, of when the actual days really are. Lincoln was born on Feb. 12, 1809. As a boy he lived on a farm and walked two miles to school each day. He loved to read and often read by the light of the fireplace in his log cabin home. He was always known as a great story teller.

Lincoln was president during a troubled time in America History. Read all about him and some of the brave things he did as president in The Picture Book of Abraham Lincoln by David Adler (John and Alexander Waller). Scroll down to see the book cover and keep scrolling to see a picture to color of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D. C. See you tomorrow for a good recipe for Sunday Brunch. Remember, boys and girls. Monday, February 14 is Valentine’s Day. We will make a little card on Monday for whoever you would like to give it to. See you tomorrow. Mrs. L.
