Recess  - February 27

Hi, Boys and Girls-Today is February 27. Yesterday, I told you I would have a neat pattern and idea for a bird feeder so here it is.

What you need:

1. A milk carton-You can use any size you want depending on what size bird feeder you want to make and that depends on how big or how small you want the birds you feed to be.

2. A pair of scissors

3. A piece of heavy twine or string

4. A long pencil

What to do:

It is very easy to make a bird feeder and it is really fun this time of year to watch the birds come into your yard or to your apartment window. First cut (Or have a grown-up help you cut) your milk carton in half. Then use your pencil to poke through the carton all the way so that the pencil sticks out both sides far enough for a bird to sit on while he eats. Finally, poke your twine through the top of your container on each side so that you can hang your feeder over a tree branch or anything else you want the birds to come to.

Fill it up with birdseed. Remember, if you want to see bigger birds, use something like sunflower seeds or if you want smaller birds use birdseed you buy at the store. Have fun bird-watching and email me if you see some interesting birds. (jlresource@aol.com). See you tomorrow.
