RECESS - March 11

Hi, Boys and Girls-today is March 11 and I have a fun craft for you today. I learned this craft from a lady named Miss Ellen. She does all of the crafts on my TV program "The Reading Room." Miss Ellen has HUNDREDS of craft ideas that are fun easy and inexpensive (in ex pen siv). Today we are going to print with fruits and vegetables. Some people like to do potato prints but I don’t like to take the time and trouble to cut out with a knife. If you use fruits and vegetables, you can use them just as they are. You just cut them in half. Also, it is not wasteful because I always use produce that is not good to eat anymore. Anyway, here goes:

What You Need:

½ lemon

½ onion

½ tomato

½ apple

½ any kind of squash

a slice of cabbage (red or green)

Any other fruit or vegetable you have that has been in the fridge too long.

Jar lids or little dishes

A small knife-it does not have to be sharp, but you may want a grown up to help you cut your things in half.

Any colors of tempra (Prang is a good brand.)

Whatever paper you want to make your prints on.

What to do:

The rest is easy. Just lightly dip your cut halves and print any design you like. You can make something to if you want to, but I like to just print away and make designs. Have fun! Scroll down to see what one bunch of vegetables and fruits may look like when you make prints with them. See you tomorrow-Mrs. L.
