RECESS April 19

Hi, Boys and Girls-today is April 19 and I have a fun easy craft for you. We are going to make a caterpillar out of an egg carton. In Spring, caterpillars hatch out of eggs laid by moths or butterflies in late fall. If you around you carefully it is not hard to find a caterpillar, especially on things like tomato plants and Marigold leaves. When I taught in kindergarten we used to save silk worm eggs in the fridge until Spring then but them in boxes with Mulberry leaves for the caterpillars to eat when they hatched. The caterpillar grew to big fat silk worms then spun cocoons of silk. When they came out they were moths again to lay new eggs. See if you can make an imaginary caterpillar that looks funny or colorful.

What You Need:

3 sections of an egg carton still together

colored crayons or markers

tempra paints

Colored paper and glue

Pipe cleaners for antennas

What To do

Use your imagination! Paint, cut and paste or whatever. Make a real looking caterpillar or a pretend one. Hope you have fun with this. Mrs. L.

Picture on Page 153-can you cut out the tongue??
