RECESS April 26

 

Hi boys and girls. We are still here in England, and I have a lot to tell you about. We went to see a soccer (football in England) game. My cousin is a great fan of his local team, called West Bromwich Albion. West Bromwich is a city near Birmingham, England’s second largest city. They beat a team from a smaller fishing town that is called Grimsby. The crowd often sang in support of their team, the sound was quite wonderful.

We also went into London, England’s largest city. There we found Hamleys, the finest toyshop in the world. I headed straight for the books, and found two for the TV show.

I also found a distant relative of our favorite puppet, Harry Elefante. John Jumbo in Hamleys wanted us to take his best wishes back to Harry

All day long the red double decker London busses went past. They are quite unusual to Americans as they have an upstairs and a downstairs. Look at the picture and you will see windows on the upper and lower levels.
