April 28

Hi boys and girls, London was great yesterday. We rode around on a double decker bus with the to cut off to make it open, like a convertible car. We went all over London, and here are some of the best known sights.

Tower Bridge is a real London landmark. The center section of the bridge between the towers is actually a draw bridge. The lower section is in two halves that can be swung up to allow big ships to pass underneath. The towers and the upper cross members between the towers provide support.

There was a great fire in London in the middle of the 1600’s, and much of the city’s wooden building burned down. The building in the middle of the next picture is is one of the few buildings that did not burn. It’s called Prince Henry’s Room. Look carefully and you will see  it old small windows.

When people think about London, they often think about Big Ben, a 200 ft. high clock tower right next to the Houses of Parliament (the British Government) and the Thames (tems) River.

Well, we are off to see more of London, so see you all tomorrow. Love Mrs. L.
