| RECESS May 18Hi, Boys and Girls-Today is May 18. Since it is getting darker so much later in my part of the world, Northern California, I thought you might like to make something to play with after school and homework. Ask your mom if you can have two large coffee cans. If she does not have coffee cans, go into your recycle area and see if you can find any kind of big can. Ask a grown-up to use a hammer and nail to punch two holes near the unopened end of each can. Thread plastic clothesline or strong string through the holes and tie the ends together. Pull up on the strings with your hands as you walk on tour "tin can stilts" just like the clowns in the circus. I got this idea from a book called Make and Do that is a part of the Childcraft Encyclopedia set in my school library.
