| RECESS May 24Hi, boys and Girls-Today is May 24 and I have a craft for you toady. Do you have your Junk Box ready to go? If you do not have a Junk Box to use when we do our crafts tune in on June 1 to see a review of all of the fun things you should have in your Junk Box. If you have lots of stuff ready to go, then you don’t need to ask Mom or Dad to take you to the store or you don’t start a project and find out you don’t have something you need. A nice full Junk Box is really a good thing to have. Today, we are going to make "Shiny Pictures." I found this fun craft in a book called Arts and Crafts For All Seasons and it is very good. You can buy it an educational stores or school supply stores. It is published by The Education Center Inc. What You Need:
What to Do: Mix one part vinegar with two parts sugar. It is best to use a screw-top jar and shake it up to really mix it well. Pour a little bit into a plastic bowl and add a little dry tempera paint. Mix with your plastic fork until it is like a paste. Next, spoon the paste onto the paper and spread it evenly with the ruler. Let it dry until it becomes just barely sticky. Use the edge of the ruler and the plastic fork to drag patterns in the paste. Make all of the patterns you want. Wavey lines are good and Native American designs look good too. Let it dry now until it becomes shiny. Put it up in your room for a decoration. Tune in tomorrow and the next day for some hard worksheets-hard but fun! Mrs. L.
