Sharp Eyes Quiz Answers

  1. These are called weaverbirds. They really do weave long pieces of plants and vines into these hanging baskets. Often they weave the nests out over water as in this picture. They do this so predators (pred uh tors-this means other animals that may harm their babies.) cannot reach the nest. Pretty smart, huh?

  2. The arrow shows the Gorilla

  4. Hippos spend much of their lives in the water because they have such delicate skin. Isn’t that funny-these huge animals have skin that reacts to insect bites, and the sun. If they stay out of the water too long, they can get an awful sunburn!

  5.

  6. These boats are called "shrimpers" and they stretch their long arms (I mean those tall spires on both sides of the boats.) and hang down nets into the water. As they go along, they trap the shrimp. As a shrimper goes along through the water, many seagulls follow them hoping to catch a shrimp that is missed by the nets. It is so interesting to watch this.

  7. The arrow shows the Giraffe.

  9. You may say 3 but if you look very carefully, you will see a baby elephant in the water just past the green patch of grass. His mother is touching him with her trunk.

  11. Flamingos are not really pink. They only look pink in parts of the world where they eat a certain kind of shrimp. Something in the shrimp turns their feathers anything from a soft pink to a really bright pink.

  12. This is an ostrich. Over time, their bodies have become heavy and their wings have become short so they cannot lift themselves off the ground. They are very fast runners, though. They also flap their wings to help them run faster and to raise dust to cool themselves off. Watch out if you are near on ostrich. They can injure you very seriously with a kick. They have really strong legs!

  13.

  14. Tigers and lions too, sleep nearly 20 hours per day. If you did that people would say you are very lazy because people need only about 8 hours of sleep.

10. The arrow shows the Rhino.
