Book Review

Arthur and the Crunch Cereal Contest

Review:

Crunch cereal is Arthur’s favorite. One morning as he is pouring out the cereal, a note falls out. The letter says:

"Welcome to the Crunch Cereal Jingle Contest. Send us your song-and you could win a year’s supply of Crunch cereal. The winning jingle will also be aired on TV in the new Crunch cereal commercial. So don’t just stand there, start crunching." (Include twenty box tops with each entry.)

Well, of course Arthur wants to enter and win that contest. The trouble is, he can’t seem to think of anything. He is eating Crunch cereal as fast as he can to get his twenty box tops but still no jingle comes into his head. He even tries to form a band among his friends. Then, he overhears his sister D. W. singing a song. The catchy tune sticks in his mind. Should he use it? Is that honest? Read the story to see what Arthur does and how he REALLY feels about the prize in his driveway!

"The knot in Arthur’s stomach did not go away. It just sat there, tight and uncomfortable. Arthur tried to ignore it. He sat in his living room hunched over the piano. He stared at the keys. The keys seemed to stare back. Arthur played one note."

Read more to find out if he wins.
