Bugs Bunny’s Carrot Machine

A Little Golden Book

Written by Clark Carlisle

Illustrated by Anthony Strobl and Bob Totten

Review:

Bugs Bunny dashes out on the secondhand bookstore (That is a place where used books are sold.) and bumps into Elmer Fudd. He tells Elmer that he found a magazine with the plans for a carrot making machine! Off they go to the City Dump to look for parts.

They work and work following the plans in the old magazine and would you believe it, sure enough they create a machine that makes carrots-the trouble is, they are GREEN! They are the wrong shape too. They have no texture. They find an old jar of orange marmalade to make them orange and try to fix the other problems and finally they do make a carrot-a little tiny one.

Bugs looked around and found a moth-eaten pillow. "Here’s something pretty soft," he said. He stuffed the pillow down the funnel and pushed the button. Another small, square, green carrot came out of the spout. Bugs tasted it.

Read the book to see the surprise ending and find out how Bugs finally gets some carrots.
