Jan Brett is not only the author of
some wonderful children's stories, she is a fabulous illustrator. Her pictures are full of
detail, color, and beauty. She makes her characters, both animals and people, come to
life.
One of her most beautiful stories is
called The Mitten. The story is a Ukrainian folktale that Jan Brett adapted to create this
beautiful story. Nicki drops his mitten on the snow and as the creatures of the woodland
find it they creep inside. The detailed drawings of the animals are classic and the ending
is lovely. You will love this story. The book is one to buy and keep. Let me know if you
