Summer Reading

Dear Parents and boys and girls,

As I promised, here is a short list of great summer reading. To find more books to read, click on the lady with the big shopping bag on the tool bar on the left side of the site. Hedgehog Books is here and they have great lists and books to purchase. We have been "friends" with them for a long time. Hedgehog Books is owned by a teacher from Santa Cruz California and she is a real expert on children’s books.

From grade 1 on Mr. Man and Little Miss can either be read or read with and to. These also may be purchased on line at Amazon.com. They are VERY inexpensive and include activity books as well.

Grade 2

  • Now is the time to start Amelia Bedilia stories

  • A Tree is a Plant

  • Adventure Stories That Will Thrill You-Five great stories in one book

  • Rose and Sebastian

  • Hippo Lemonade

Grade 3 and advanced Grade 2 Readers

  • Books in a Series Time Guys!

  • Boxcar Children Bailey School Kids

  • Magic Treehouse American Quilt

  • Captain Underpants

  • Baby Sisters and Baby Sitters Club

There are these and so many more. Do check at your local bookstore. I highly recommend Barnes and Noble because they have knowledgeable salespeople and a great section devoted just to children. They also will order books in a series that are a bit hard to find like The Blue Ribbon Stories that deal with girls who ride horses. Also, as my TV viewers know, Lionel the Lion, King of the Readers says: "Go where all the books are free-the library!"

Please take the time to do this for your child. You will never regret it-I promise.
